Central Canada AGM and Member's Convention December 10, 11 2011
For a second year we're returning to Asessippi and Russell Manitoba for this always eagerly awaited kick off to the season. Warren Jobbitt (Western Program Director) has assembled a staff of Level 4's, like a 5 star chef assembles the ingredients for a fine meal, who will lead the groups on snow using the successful modular format of last year. Accommodation is available at the Russell Inn. A banquet and indoor session have been arranged. Join other CSIA members and friends to start your season off on the right foot and find out more about the CSIA in your region.

Central Canada Annual General Meeting December 11, 2010
This was held at 5:30 PM at the Russell Inn, Russell, Manitoba. Thanks to everyone who attended to make this possible. Particular thanks to our Central Chairman Barry George for his able, albeit assisted (you know of what we speak Dan B.), running of the meeting. The CSIA at the regional level is a volunteer organization and these elected members on the various boards act on behalf the general membership to conduct the regular business of the CSIA at the local level. If you ever have an idea or an interest in participating in the work of one of the committees just speak to a board member.
The addition of a banquet to the event catered from the Russell Inn turned the evening into a very special social occasion. As additional entertainment members watched an on screen retrospective of Ski Teaching in Manitoba put together by Glenn Allen and a presentation by Warren Jobbitt that was both both educational and entertaining at the same time. As anyone who has had the pleasure of learning from or skiing with Warren before that's to be expected. He is a master showman! Manitoba is truly lucky to have the honour of being the host province for this annual affair and that so many of the CSIA's best and brightest have come to share their knowledge and passion about the sport with us over the years.
Central Canada Members’ Convention December 11 & 12, 2010
To describe this as a resounding success would be an understatement. From the superb weather to the consistently good hill conditions and the challenging content presented by the able staff of course conductors this was a weekend to go down in the history books. A special thanks to the members of the Manitoba Sub-Committee for their work in organizing this event and in particular to Claude Roy who has taken this task on ably (inheriting the role if you will from Doug Allen's stewardship of many years). A special note of thanks is owed to Dave Zerr, Asessippi Snowsports School Director as well as the rest of the staff and management of Asessippi Winter Park whose assistance and cooperation made this possible for the first time ever at their area.
This was the first time we tried a more modular format for the on hill content of the convention and the course conducting staff, under the leadership of Warren Jobbitt, was a highly skilled and diverse group who did a superb job. In addition to the traditional fare we were able to include a module on tactical skiing (using coaching tools as part of the progression) and something for the new schoolers with an introduction to the Snow Park progression by Craig Chapman from Table Mountain. Many thanks to Warren, Otto Kamstra, Rob Cote. Jason Van Tine, our own Garry MacKinnon and Craig Chapman. Also a special thanks to Martin Jean, National Program Director for attending this event and leading the groups on snow as well.
In addition for the first time ever we were able to arrange to have this weekend accredited with the CSCF. This gave those with dual certification the opportunity to have 2 educational credits and 1 risk management credit added to their records for licensing requirements.
I know that everyone who attended will tell you the same thing. This is one early season start to the year that you won't want to miss next time. Start putting it on your calendar for next year and we'll see you on the slopes.
- Glenn Allen, CSIA Manitoba Chairperson and CSIA Central Board member
